How to Back Up the Windows Registry

When your computer becomes slow, one of the first things you should do is scan your Windows registry for errors and obsolete entries. Cleaning the registry with a registry cleaner and removing outdated and empty entries from the registry can make your computer a lot faster. In addition to that, there are advanced registry tweaks that can really boost the performance of your PC. However, if registry cleanup and tweaks are performed incorrectly, they can damage your computer so that you will need to reinstall the operating system. That’s why you should always back up the registry before performing cleanup, registry defrag, and tweaking.

There are several ways to back up the Windows registry. Here are the most effective backup methods.

1. Create a System Restore Point

Creating a system restore point is one of the best ways to not only back up the registry, but to ask back up your computer so that you can roll back changes if any of them cause harm. System restore returns your computer to a previous date without deleting your recent files, emails or program settings. Remember that a system restore doesn’t actually back up your files, but it does create a reliable registry backup.

To create a restore point, do the following:

1.    Go to StartAll ProgramsAccessoriesSystem ToolsSystem Restore
2.    Click Create a restore point, then click Next
3.    In the Restore point description text box name the restore point, so that you can easily find it in case you need it
4.    Click Create

2. Export a Selected Branch of the Registry

This backup method is more reliable than creating a system restore point. In addition to that, it needs less disk space because only the selected registry branch is backed up. This method is preferred if you are changing a particular registry key.
Here is how you can export a registry branch:

1.    Click StartRun
2.    Type regedit in the box and click OK
3.    Find  the registry key you are going to edit and click on it
4.    Go to the File menu and click Export
5.    Select where you want to save the file
6.    Name the file and click Save

Now you can restore the backed up registry key if something goes wrong when you are editing registry values. To revert the changes you’ve made, simply double-click on the backup file and the settings stored in it will be added to the registry.

Why Should I Use a Registry Cleaner?

“Why should I use a registry cleaner?” is one of the most common questions asked on computer repair forums. That’s because there is a lot of controversy where registry cleaners are concerned. Some people say that you should use a registry cleaner to make your computer faster, some say that registry cleaners are dangerous and can damage your PC. So which statement is true? In this article we are going to explain everything about registry cleaners and why you should use a registry cleaner.

What is a registry cleaner?

First of all, let’s answer the question what is a registry cleaner, as some people are not sure what registry cleanup software does. Basically, a registry cleaner is a program that is used to manage the Windows registry – the main database of your computer. As time goes by, the registry accumulates different entries. These entries are keys, controls and references. Most of the time the registry works in a proper way, but sometimes things go wrong and some entries become corrupted. That’s how you start getting registry errors. The more there are, the slower your computer runs. A good registry cleaner removes empty entries and fixes corrupted registry items, so that your registry stays healthy and your computer runs fast.

Why do I need to clean the registry?

The registry is a bit like your car engine – it can work well for ages even without maintenance, but one day a single error may bring your computer to a halt. That’s because corrupted entries and missing references accumulate over time. When you install a program, it writes its settings to the registry. When you open a files, the registry is accessed. When you update your Windows, your registry is updated as well. That’s how the registry grows in size. However, entries can become outdated, especially when you uninstall software. As a result, some registry entries will become empty and you may start getting errors. Registry cleanup will help you keep your computer in top form and ensure that it’s fast and stable. A registry cleaner will find errors and glitches and eliminate them.

How to choose a good registry cleaner?

Choosing a good registry cleaner is not an easy task. That’s because the Web is cluttered by bogus and ill-written registry cleaners that do more harm that good. That’s because these registry cleaners are made for the sole purpose of making you pay for the software. That’s why you need to be careful when choosing a registry cleaner. Here are some tips that will help you:

  • Read user reviews on websites like CNet and Softpedia
  • Make sure the reigstry cleaner creates a backup before it does anything
  • A good registry cleaner finds fewer errors than a bad one because it plays safe

Now you know why you should use a registry cleaner. Remember to clean the registry once a month and your computer will keep running in top form.

How to Remove Registry Errors in a Proper Way

When your computer starts running slow and you start getting various errors on system shutdown, the first thing to do is to check your computer for registry errors. The Windows registry is a complicated database that stores every possible setting for your computer. As time goes by, some registry entries become corrupted, empty or obsolete. If only a few registry entries get corrupted, your system will not be affected. However, if there are hundreds or even thousands of registry errors, your Windows performance will start degrading.

There are quite a few registry repair tools that can help you repair registry errors. Some tools, like RegAce, have better functionality and include the tools to fully optimize your computer. Others (mostly free registry cleaners) only fix a handful of registry errors. Naturally, it’s best to use an advanced registry cleaner and system optimizer. But even if you use a more basic program, following these tips will ensure the best possible registry repair results:

  • Uninstall software you never use – if you have any programs that you never use, uninstall them before running registry repair. Having too many programs installed only consumes disk space and thus makes your computer slow. When you uninstall programs, they can leave empty registry keys behind. These registry errors will be repaired when you run your registry repair software.
  • Delete temporary files – temporary files are created every day by pretty much all the software that you use. Temporary files accumulate over time, clutter your system, and create unnecessary errors.
  • Configure system startup – a lot of programs configure themselves to run automatically on Windows startup. They write their settings into the Windows registry, thus cluttering it and making your PC boot longer. Disable unnecessary startup entries before cleaning up the registry, so that all corrupted and missing references get repaired by your registry cleaner.
  • Create a system restore point – before you run registry repair software, create a system restore point. Having a system backup will guarantee that you will not lose any files in case registry repair goes wrong.

These simple tips will help you ensure that repairing registry errors on your computer is flawless and 100% effective.

How To Fix The 80004005 Error

The 80004005 error occurs when you try to use ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) or ODBC to connect to a Microsoft Access database. The error you may receive will look something like this:

“The Microsoft Jet Database Engine cannot open the file ‘(unknown)’”

or

“Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error ’80004005′
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access 97 Driver] The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file ‘(unknown)’. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.”

What Causes The 80004005 Error

There are several causes of the 80004005 error, some of which include:

  • The account that Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) is using (which is usually IUSR) does not have the correct Windows NT permissions for a file-based database or for the folder that contains the file.
  • The file and the data source name are marked as Exclusive.
  • Another process or user has the Access database open.

How To Fix The 80004005 Error

Step 1 - Check The Permissions On The File

It is recommended that you check the permissions on the file and the folder. Make sure that you have the ability to create and/or destroy any temporary files. Temporary files are usually created in the same folder as the database, but the file may also be created in other folders such as the WINNT folder.

Step 2 - Verify The File And Data Source

It is important to verify the file and data source because the file has to be in proper working order and must be protected from damage or corrupt. Other wise your computer will experience some difficulty trying to use the correct files.

Step 3 - Close Any Visual InterDev Projects

It is recommended that you close down any other Visual InterDev projects that contain a data connection to the database. This way your computer won’t be confused and will be able to work properly.

Step 4 - Clean Out The Registry

One of the big causes of 80004005 errors is through the “registry” database of your computer. This is a large database which stores vital information & settings for your PC, and is used continually to help Windows to read the files, settings & options that it needs to run. Although the registry is one of the most important parts of every Windows system, it’s continually causing a large number of problems thanks to the way it will often become corrupted and unreadable. This is the cause behind many 80004005 errors, and needs to be resolved by using a reliable “registry cleaner” application.

This step is best completed by downloading Frontline Registry Cleaner, and letting it clean out any of the problems that your system may have inside.

Rtvscan.exe Error Fixes Tutorial

The Rtvscan.exe file is a part of the Norton Antivirus program. Errors in this file are typically caused by you not having the latest DirectX version in your PC. This is most likely because you have failed to update your version of Direct X. If it’s out of date, then certain programs, including Norton Antivirus, may not be able to run properly. The following message will be displayed on your computer when you have this error:

  • “Rtvscan.exe – Application Error: The instruction at “0x77fcc8e1″ referenced memory at 0×00000000. The memory could not be written or read. Click OK to terminate the program, or cancel to debug the program.”

What Causes RTVScan.exe Errors?

You will typically experience errors with the rtvscan.exe when you are running an outdated DirectX version (normally older than DirectX 8.1) in your system, which makes your PC use too much RAM and memory, which is what leads to this particular error. Otherwise, the error may be caused by faulty registry settings. You need to solve any issues that are causing the error. This tutorial will teach you how you can repair these issues in your PC.

How To Fix RTVScan.exe Errors

Step 1 – Update The DirectX Version On Your PC

The first thing that you need to do when you have this error in your computer is to update the DirectX version in your system.  To do this, first click on Start then choose All Programs,. Next, select Windows Update. Afterwards choose Custom updates and then view any entries in the “Optional Software” field.   When you see the DirectX updates appear on your screen, install them.

Step 2 – Rename The “SoftwareDistribution” Folder Of Your PC

Another way to resolve this error in your PC is to rename the SoftwareDistribution folder in your system. The steps for doing this are explained below.

  • Log-on to your PC as an administrator
  • Click on Start then choose All Programs
  • Next select Accessories
  • Right click Command Prompt then choose “Run as administrator
  • Type “net stop WuAuServ” in the “Administrator: Command Prompt” window then press Enter
  • Again click on the Start button then type “%windir%” in the Start Search box. Next, press Enter
  • Locate the “SoftwareDistribution” folder in the opened folder
  • Right click on the folder, then choose Rename
  • Rename the folder by typing “SDold
  • Restart the Windows Updates service in your PC by typing “net start WuAuServ” in the opened window.

Step 3 – Re-Install Programs Causing The Error

One other likely reason as to why this error will surface on your PC is due to Windows’ failure to process some of the files and settings in a problematic program.  For this matter, you need to remove the “guilty” application or applications from your computer to restore normalcy inside your system.  To accomplish this, follow the steps that are outlined below:

  • First click on Start afterwards choose Control Panel
  • Next select Add/Remove Programs
  • From a list that will be displayed on your screen, locate the “guilty” application then click on the Uninstall tab
  • If an uninstall wizard pop-ups on your screen, follow the steps that it will display.
  • You can now restart your PC to refresh the settings in your system
  • Reinstall the program on your computer by inserting the CD installer on your CD/DVD drive
  • Finally, test the application and see if it is working properly

Step 4 – Clean Out The Registry

The registry is one sector in your system that constantly produces tons of errors.  This happens because it easily gets overloaded with information.  Unfortunately most of the data that gets stored here is useless, using up your computer’s resources unnecessarily.  When the volume of files in your registry hits a critical level, the speed of your PC will dramatically slow down, programs will not be loaded properly and errors will surface.   Also, the longer you use your PC, the more data that gets stored in this portion of your system.  And so unless you regularly check the status of your registry, issues here are inevitable.  It is for this reason that you should take it upon yourself to clean out this part of your computer from time to time to free up some space. However, it is not recommended that you do this manually as doing so might cause important files in your PC to be deleted.  What is advisable that you do is to use an automated registry cleaner.

How To Repair ppctl.dll Errors On Windows

The ppctl.dll errors prevent you from using any CA Anti-spyware programs. The computer will warn you of this error every time you try to run programs like CA Anti-Spyware 2007, CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2008, and the software of these programs. The main cause of this error is that Windows is unable to access or read the dll file which is necessary to load several important applications on your computer.

What Causes PPCTL.dll Errors?

The ppctl.dll errors can be caused by a number of things. One, the dll file could be damaged or corrupted. Two, there is corruption in the registry entries that cause the ppctl.dll to be installed incorrectly. Three, the existing dlls file were not properly registered in the system. Four, traces of previous versions of the Anti-Spyware cause the dll file to be placed in the wrong folder during software updates. All these issues make the dll file inaccessible and thus trigger the error to show up on the screen. Resolve these issues to get rid of the error. Simply follow the instructions below to find out how.

How To Fix PPCTL.dll Errors On Your System

Step 1 – Download & Run “PPCTL.dll Repair” From CA Technologies

The manufacturers of CA Anti-Spyware devised an application that will perform repairs to their anti-spyware products. You will have to download this repair utility to take care of the problems related to the software.

  • Go to the official website of CA Technologies (manufacturers)
  • Locate the repair utility application
  • Download the proper repair utility
  • Make sure to save it directly to your desktop
  • Extract the file and double click on it to load the application.
  • Select the REPAIR PPCTL icon.
  • After it has finished, check if the ppctl errors have stopped appearing when you run CA Anti-Spyware programs.

If this has not resolved the problem, then the issue is most likely being caused by the program. Proceed to step 2 to fix this error.

Step 2 – Re-Install The Program Causing The Error

It may be necessary to re-install the program that is producing the error when you try to use. It could be that the program’s files are damaged, and therefore, re-installing it will provide new ones that work normally, allowing Windows to be able to successfully load the program once more.

  • Download a fresh copy of the CA Anti-spyware you are using from the official website of the manufacturer.
  • Click the START button and open CONTROL PANEL
  • Select the Add/Remove Programs tab
  • Wait for the list of installed programs to appear.
  • Locate the CA Internet Security Suite from the list and click UNINSTALL or REMOVE
  • The Product Options will appear. Choose the CA Anti-spyware and click UNINSTALL
  • Go to C:\Program Files and see if there are any program traces left behind like CA, eTrust or armor folders. If there are any, delete them.
  • Restart your computer
  • Select the new copy of the program and run it to set up installation.

Step 3 – Clean Out The Registry Of Windows

Corrupt or damaged registry entries can also cause the ppctl.dll to be inaccessible and in effect, make the error appear. Windows reads the entries saved here so that it is able to load up your programs correctly. Should the CA anti-spyware program settings be corrupted or lost, then this may well cause the error. Use the Frontline Registry Cleaner to fix the problems in the registry and get rid of this annoying error effectively.

mwsbar.dll Spyware Removal Tutorial

The mwsbar.dll is a type of BHO or browser helper object; others refer to it as an “add-on”.  It is linked with the “My Web Search” toolbar that is usually installed on Internet Explorer. Other applications that make use of this BHO are “My Search Bar”, “LinkGrabber 99” and “AdwareAdware”. This toolbar is technically not harmful but most spyware or viruses like to disguise themselves in the form of this BHO. When a mwsbar.dll error shows up when you start Internet Explorer, it could indicate that your computer has been infected by a virus. It is alright to have the mwsbar.dll but you have to make sure you have a legitimate one.

What Is MWSBAR.dll?

The mwsbar.dll is a dynamic link library file that functions with the My Web Search toolbar. Though not harmful in normal circumstances, it is often used by spyware as a disguise to infiltrate computers. Thus, the dll error is an indicator of a potential spyware infection.

The typical error messages you will see include:

  • C:\Program~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\1bin\MWSBAR.DLL is missing from windows system32 file”
  • “Error loading C:\Progr~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\1.bin\MWSBAR.DLL”

How To Repair The 0×0000001 Error

0×0000001 Error is a type of blue screen error that will typically occur when you are starting up your PC.  This error is indicative of a problem in your system due to some incompatibility issues in asynchronous procedure calls. The thread indexes can also be a source of this error. This tutorial will teach you how you can fix this error in your PC.

What Causes The 0×0000001 Error?

There are a number of factors that can cause this error including registry problems, outdated drivers in your PC, memory issues, a mismatch in the asynchronous procedure calls or thread indexes in your system.

How To Fix 0×0000001 Errors

Step 1 – Make Sure All Your Hardware Is Working Correctly

Check all the hardware in your PC to make sure that they are working properly.  If you experienced the error while you were installing hardware, you need to remove the device.  Also check if your hardware is compatible to your PC’s Windows version.

Step 2 – Update any Out-of-Date Drivers Your PC

Most of the time, this error will be caused by outdated drivers in your PC.  That is why it is important that you update the drivers in your system from time to time.  To accomplish this, follow the steps outlined below.

  • Click on Start then choose Control Panel
  • Select Device Manager then click on Hardware
  • Right click on each of the drivers then choose Properties to check the date.
  • Go to the manufacturer’s online site then check for the latest updates.  Download updates whose date of update is later than that found in the drivers on your PC.
  • Remove the drivers in your PC that have been updated by choosing the Device Manager Window then click Uninstall.

Step 3 – Update Windows

Another reason why you will experience this error on your PC is when your Windows is outdated.  Microsoft regularly comes out with Windows updates that contain fixes that can sort out bugs and errors in your computer.  To install the latest Windows version in your PC follow the steps below.

  • First click on Start
  • Next choose All Programs
  • Select Windows Update
  • Follow the steps in the Update Wizard
  • Restart your PC to refresh settings

Step 4 – Clean Out The Registry

The registry is a little known area in your computer that is prone to errors.  Microsoft made it difficult for users to understand what exactly the registry does since it has a very frail design and can easily get damaged.  On the other hand, it is necessary that you clean out your registry from time to time of unnecessary files since these can easily slow down your computer and lead to errors.  The rule is, the more you use your computer the more files get stored in your registry.  Unfortunately only a fraction of the settings in this sector of your PC is useful and the majority of the files will only serve to slow your PC down.  If you try to remove unnecessary data in your registry yourself, there is a strong likelihood that crucial files may get accidentally deleted.  That is why many experts advise people to use an automated registry cleaner.

How To Repair Error 646 Quickly

Error 646 is a common Windows problem for Vista users that is associated with Windows Update.  The error generally appears when you try to update Windows using the Windows Update program and the update process was not able to install the updates.  The problem is mainly caused because Windows is not able to process some settings properly or you have not gained the necessary permissions to perform the update on the computer.  You need to resolve the issues surrounding Windows Update to be able to install the necessary updates from Microsoft and prevent the error messages from appearing on your screen.  This tutorial will help you repair error 646 quickly.

What Causes Error 646?

These are the common causes of the error:

  • Internet error on your PC
  • Windows has faulty settings
  • Your PC has some conflicting software

The errors are generated by the system as a result Windows not being able to proceed with the update process.  Windows Update needs a reliable Internet connection to be able to download the updates from the Microsoft website.  You need to be able to identify the issues that prevent Windows Update from completing the update process and fix it efficiently – which can be done using the steps below:

How To Fix Error 646

Step 1 – “Restore” Your PC To An Earlier Date

You can use the “System Restore” feature of Windows to resolve problems with your Windows system.  It is a feature that lets you rollback into an earlier date when your system was working properly.  It can help you resolve problems without losing valuable information.  This important function of Windows can easily be done by users, but is often neglected.  To fix the error 646 using System Restore, follow these steps:

  • Click “Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
  • Follow the wizard to restore your PC back to a date before  you could update your PC
  • Choose a date using the calendar picker that you are confident that your system has been working properly
  • Restart your PC when prompted by System Restore

This process will return your system to a state when you last updated your PC.  It is essential that you keep creating restore points every now and then so that your system can later return to this point if a problem occurs.  If the error still occurs after you try this step you should proceed to step 2.

Step 2 – Clean Out The Registry Of Windows

The “registry” is a large and complicated storage depot that contains a huge number of registry keys holding information that pertains to file and program settings.  It is a major Windows component that is needed by the system to function properly. However it keeps on producing errors, largely because Windows loads several hundreds of registry entries at the same time and saves them in the wrong way.  The registry entries easily get damaged or corrupted and Windows is unable to process them.  To be able to repair the error 646, you need to clean out the errors from inside the registry by using a reliable ‘registry cleaner’ application to automatically detect broken registry keys and repair them instantly.

We highly recommend that you get this tool for it has been proven to consistently fix 99% of system errors.

Runtime Error 424 Error

Runtime Error 424 is a fairly common Windows problem in XP and Vista versions. Basically, this problem is a software programming error. The error appears on your screen if Windows encounters an unexpected error, or if it cannot process a file or setting that it needs to use. The error normally appears when you are using Microsoft Access and you then attempt to use the Microsoft Office Chart Wizard on the data access page.  When the error appears, it prevents you from inserting charts into your Access program.  You need to resolve the issues affecting the chart wizard to be able to insert charts in Access again and resolve the error.  This tutorial will help your fix Runtime error 424 quickly.

What Causes Runtime Error 424?

One of the most likely reasons is that a faulty Microsoft Office installation causes Windows to be unable to process insertion of charts.  The problem comes down to Windows not being able to process the files or settings necessary to perform the operation. It’s likely some files and settings were damaged during the installation.  The problem can also be caused by errors inside the registry – corrupted settings here will have the same effect.  You need to complete a series of steps to identify the source of the problem and then fix it efficiently – which can be done by following the guidelines below:

How To Fix Runtime Error 424

Step 1 – Re-Install The Program Causing The Error

The error is most likely the direct result of one of your programs being damaged. It could be that its files are corrupted, or they may have been misplaced in the wrong folder. Whatever, the chances are that you can fix the problems by simply uninstalling the program and then installing it once more.

  • Click Start
  • Go to Control Panel
  • Select Add/Remove Programs
  • Selecting program from the list and then click the “Remove” or “Uninstall” button
  • Restart your PC first before you insert the CD/DVD installer or running the file installer from your hard drive

Step 2 - Use The “Office Chart Wizard”

Not a direct fix, but if you want to work around the problem, you can use the Office Chart Wizard to insert charts into your Access file as this will remove conflicts with the runtime error.  This can be done by following the steps below:

  1. In a new data access page, select New, and then click OK
  2. Open the Insert menu
  3. Select Office Chart
  4. Whilst in the wizard, select Column found under Chart Type, then click Next
  5. Fill out and change the necessary details for your Chart, click Ok

This process will allow your Office programs to process the various files with charts it needs to run, preventing the error message from showing.  However, this is not a true fix for the error, so it’s recommended that you proceed to the step below.

Step 3 – Clean Out The Registry

If reinstalling the application doesn’t work, then the error must lie in the registry of Windows.  The registry serves as the system’s storage house for all the file and program settings on your computer.  Every program installed on your PC comes with configuration settings that Windows uses to remember how to load your files and programs, but unfortunately these are quite sensitive and can easily get damaged. To fix the runtime error 424, you should clean out the registry of damage by  using a ‘registry cleaner’ program, which works by performing a thorough system scan first, and then repairs all errors detected.  We recommend this tool for your system as it has been found to consistently remove 99% of errors and faults inside the registry and can even help stop viruses from infecting your system.

You need to resolve the problem in order to fix the error – follow steps describe next to do so.

How To Fix Runtime Error 76

Step 1 – Re-Install The Application Causing The Errors

To directly tackle the error, the first thing that you need to do is identify the program which is causing the error message to show on your screen.  It’s likely that if you re-install it, the error will stop appearing.  Re-installing will replace the various program files the application is using and grant it fresh, working copies to use.  You need to uninstall the program first, which you can do by following these steps:

  • Click Start
  • Select Run
  • Type “appwiz.cpl” and click OK
  • From the list, select the program and click the “Uninstall” or “Remove” button

Step 2 – Clean Out Your PC With A “Registry Cleaner”

A vitally important module in your Windows system known as the registry could be the reason for the error.  It is basically a central database that stores a large number of registry keys that are needed by Windows to retrieve file and program settings. Without these settings, Windows won’t be able to load your programs properly. Unfortunately, the registry often suffers setbacks such as corruption, or misplaced registry keys, and this is when errors occur. Cleaning the registry will almost certainly eliminate the runtime error 76. To do so, you will need to use a ‘registry cleaner’ to do the cleaning for you.  To remove 99% of errors inside the registry, we highly recommend that you use this tool which has been found to be consistent and very versatile in restoring the health of your PC.

How To Repair The 1603 Error On Your PC

The 1603 error is an installation error which pops up when you try to install a program. The “Windows Installer” program is a component of Windows that is used to perform the installation process for new programs you want on the computer and it is usually faults with this program that are the major reason for this error showing up.

What Causes 1603 Error

The 1603 error will appear on your screen when you run the Windows Installer program or try to install other applications. Typically, this error occurs when you install software into an encrypted folder or when the folder you are installing the software into is used only as a substitute location on the system. Another cause of the error is when Windows Installer places new software into a “system” account that has no administrative permission. All of these likely causes of the error have to be dealt with to get rid of the problem. Follow the steps below to resolve the 1603 error:

How To Fix Error 1603

Step 1 – Install Into A Non-Encrypted Folder

One of the causes of the error is the installation of software into an encrypted folder. In order to fix this problem, all you have to do is install the software into a folder that is not encrypted.

Step 2- Ensure The Substitute Drive Is Not Virtual / Substitute

When you mistakenly install a program into a substitute drive or “virtual” drive, Windows will render all installations placed there to be unreadable. This causes the 1603 error to occur. To resolve this issue, make sure that you are not installing your files into a substitute drive or virtual drive.

Step 3 – Change The System Account Settings On Windows

If the error is caused by a system account lacking control privileges, then you will have to do the following:

  • Open My Computer
  • Select the drive location where you will install Windows Installer. Right click this drive.
  • Click Properties > Security
  • If the system user account is not on the boxes then, click ADD.
  • Select OK
  • Browse the Permissions window
  • Select ALLOW > FULL CONTROL > Advanced
  • Press OK
  • Press OK
  • Load the Windows Install program.
    • See if the NAME box has the system user account (Windows 2000) or check if the GROUP or USER Name box has the system user account (Windows XP)
    • The Select Users or Groups dialog box will show up and in the name field, click SYSTEM >ADD
    • For Windows XP, click the “Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries that apply to child objects” and check the box for system account
    • For other Windows operating systems, click the “Reset permissions on all child objects and enable propagation of inheritable permissions” and check the box for system account

Step 4 – Clean Out The Registry Of Your PC

It is important to keep registry entries free from damage and corruption so that your PC will be able to avoid errors from occurring. Any damage here can cause critical errors and even render your PC unusable, because this is where Windows stores the configuration settings of your files. The best tool for cleaning the registry is the Frontline Registry Cleaner that effectively fixes errors up to 99% of the issues in your registry. Download, install and run the program.

These files use up a lot of your computer’s resources, and will cause your computer system to slow down.  When this happens, applications in your PC will not be loaded properly, causing errors to surface. That is why it is imperative on your part to periodically clean out your registry to free up space.  When doing this, it is advisable that you use an automated registry cleaner.

The registry is a little known sector in your PC that is notorious for constantly producing a large number of errors, including the ati2dvag.dll errors.  The more often you use your computer, the more information your registry will collect.  Some of the data here is crucial to the operation of your PC, as virtually all the hardware and software processes in your computer depend on the processing information found in the registry.  From time to time however, the registry’s settings can be corrupted.

It is very important for you to periodically clean your registry of redundant settings. You can clean the registry manually, but this would take many hours to complete. Therefore, for this purpose, it is always best to use a registry cleaner program, which can effectively scan for errors and repair them in an instant.

The AdobeLinguistic.dll file is a component of the Linguistic Library of Adobe Systems, version 2.0.0 Linguistic Library. This particular file (version 2.0.0) is over 330,000 bytes in size and is located in the “/%Program Files%/Adobe/Reader” folder, created on October 22, 2004. This file frequently gets damaged and causes errors to appear in your computer. This error often causes Adobe software to fail to load properly on your system.

What Causes AdobeLinguistic.dll Errors?

The adobelinguistic.dll error shows up when Adobe programs such as Photoshop or Adobe Readers are being accessed by the user. Technically, this error is directly corresponding to Adobe programs, and when you try to open them, you will see one of these error messages:

  • “AdobeLinguistic.dll Not Found”
  • “AdobeLinguistic.dll Is Missing”
  • “Program Failed To Launch Because AdobeLinguistic.dll Was Not Found”

One major cause of this error is that Windows has trouble reading the dll file, either because it is corrupted or has got damaged; this situation is usually brought about by a virus infection in the computer, or sometimes by issues in the registry. Another possible cause could be faulty software or a malfunctioning file that needs replacing. Follow the tutorial below to troubleshoot the problem.

Uninstalling Photoshop and then downloading it again will fix the problems with the program.

  • Click the START button > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
  • Select the Adobe program to be removed
  • Click UNINSTALL or REMOVE
  • Wait for the process to finish
  • Reboot computer.

After Windows start up, download a new version of the program, or insert the original CD installer into the drive. Install the program properly by following the installation wizard. When finished, see if the error still shows up.

  • Download a replacement adobelinguistic.dll file from the official website of Adobe.
  • Unzip it into the hard drive of the computer.

  • Transfer a copy of the new adobelinguistic.dll file into the same folder as the old one.
  • Go to START > RUN

  • On the command prompt screen, type “regsvr32 AdobeLinguistic.dll” to register the dll file
  • Press ENTER and exit command prompt
  • Restart computer afterwards

This will replace the faulty dll file that causes the errors in your system. Proceed to Step 3 if the error persists.

Step 3 – Clean Out The Registry

The problem may be a result of damaged registry entries, in which case you will need to repair them. The registry is a vital database in your computer that is used to store configuration settings for all of the programs you use. What Is The “Bad Pool Caller” Error & How To Fix?

The Bad Pool Caller error is a serious Windows system failure that results in the “blue screen of death” to appear on screen, disrupting your PC activity and possibly causing you to lose vital information.  This problem is typically associated with you having a faulty hardware device connected somewhere on your system. The error could cause serious damage if you do not fix it immediately. Therefore, you need to find out the source of the problem in order to prevent the blue screen from appearing.  This tutorial will help you find ways how to fix the bad pool caller error.

What Causes The “Bad Pool Caller” Error?

You will see the following message when this error occurs:

“BAD_POOL_CALLER”

The error is generally caused because Windows is unable to read or load one of the files it needs to access.  Windows typically keeps files inside something called a “data pool” whenever you run them. This data pool serves as an immediate repository, enabling Windows to read all the files it needs quickly, whenever they are required. The Bad Pool Caller error typically shows when Windows cannot retrieve or process a file from inside this data pool.  The problem can also be caused by malfunctioning hardware devices, faulty software or errors inside the registry.  You need to perform a series of steps to find the source of the problem and then fix it – which can be done by following the instructions described below:

Ways To Fix The Bad Pool Caller Error:

Step 1 – Ensure The Hardware Of Your PC Is Functioning Correctly

It is often the case that malfunctioning hardware is causing the problem (commonly hard drives), and it is this that prevents your PC from reading the important settings or files required. You need to verify all the hardware attached to your computer by checking if cables are securely attached or that there are no clicking sounds coming from anywhere.  You can detach and re-attach all devices firmly to be sure.

Step 2 – Re-Install Affected Programs

If you suspect that there is a problem with one of your programs, then you will need to remove it and download it again to clear up any issues with its files. Re-installing applications provides fresh copies of all the program files and will often prevent the error message from showing again.  To start re-installing affected programs, do the following:

  • Click Start
  • Locate Control Panel
  • Seclect Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the guilty application
  • Restart your computer before you run the file installer.

If the problem still exists, then proceed to the next step.

Step 3 – Clean Out The Registry Of Your Computer

The registry is a massive database that Windows employs to store all of its file and program settings.  The registry is an important component, vital for Windows to remember how to load the files and programs that you want to use, but can be a big source of errors including the “Bad Pool Caller” error when things go awry.  Registry settings often get corrupted because of the high speed and which they are saved and overwritten, and so they become very common. To resolve these problems, the best thing to do is clean out the registry of your computer thoroughly by using a registry cleaner program. This kind of application can automatically scan and repair virtually all errors inside the registry.  We highly recommend that you download and install this tool to ensure that your registry is free from errors.

How To Resolve System Error 5 – “Access Is Denied”

System Error 5 is a common Windows error that typically announces itself with the “Access Is Denied” error message, indicating that there is a problem with your “NetView” or “Net Time” commands.   The problem is generally caused by conflicts with the time displayed on your system, or else by corrupted account information.  You need to resolve the issues causing this error to stop these messages from showing up.  This tutorial will help you resolve the system error 5 on your PC.

What Causes System Error 5?

When you encounter the Windows error 5, one of the following messages will be displayed:

  • “System Error 5 has occurred”
  • “Access is denied”

The error can be caused by numerous different issues with your computer, though the most likely cause is that permission has not been granted to local users by the Windows Vista User Account Control function. Known as the UAC, this is responsible for controlling information about the system for each user account, and so it is critical that it is working properly so that you can get rid of errors on your computer.

There are several other possible causes of Windows error 5, include a problem with time synchronization, lack of user permissions, conflicts with firewalls or third party products or an error with the Active Directory.

How To Fix Windows Error 5:

Step 1 – Ensure The Time Settings Of Windows Are Correct

To eliminate time synchronization problems, you need to ensure that the time settings of your PC are correct.  You can correct the time settings in one of two ways.  You can click on the time in the system tray, which is located at the lower right portion of your screen, and click “Change date and time settings”, or you can click Start > Control Panel > Date and Time.  If the problem is due to a different time zone, click the “Change time zone” button and select the proper time zone from there.  If you simply need to correct the time, click the “Change date and time” button and synchronize the time from there.

Step 2 – Clean Out Any Viruses From Your PC

The error can easily be caused by a virus infection that creates conflicts in your system.  You need to eliminate possible viruses that are causing trouble within your system by using a powerful “anti-malware” application, such as XoftSpy, which is able to remove all instances of malicious software in your hard drive.  This process will not only resolve the problem, but will also help protect your system from future malware infection.

Step 3 – Correct Corrupted Registry Keys

The problem can also be resolved by manually correcting corrupted registry keys, specifically the ‘LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy’ registry key that is present in Windows Vista and XP operating systems.  You need to ensure that your system gains full credentials.  Follow these steps:

  1. Click Start > Run and type “regedit” in the open box, then hit Enter.
  2. Supply the administrator password if prompted to continue, or simply click Continue to confirm.
  3. Check the left pane in the registry editor window and search for the following registry key: “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\
    Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
  4. If you cannot find ‘LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy’ in this registry key, then you need to add it and reset its value:
  • Access the Edit menu and click New > DWORD VALUE.
  • Name it “LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy” and then click OK.
  • Right-click on the LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy key and click Modify.
  • Provide a value of “1” in the Value Data box and click OK.
  1. Exit the registry and reboot your PC for the changes to take effect.

Step 4 – Clean Out The Registry Of Windows

The registry is a complex central database that stores all important file and program settings, but also continually accumulates errors while using your PC.  The errors are mainly caused by the way Windows loads multiple registry keys at the same time, and then saves them in the wrong way, which eventually produces damaged registry keys.

To resolve the system error 5, you need to clean out Windows registry from broken registry keys by running a registry cleaner program that can perform automatic scans and immediate repairs.  We highly recommend that you use this tool among many applications available for it is proven to fix 99% of registry errors that allows you to have a fast and error-free system.

Our Review Of Frontline Registry Cleaner 2.0 – The Best Registry Cleaner?

Frontline Registry Cleaner 2.0 is a newly released piece of software which has been designed by the Frontline PC Utilities company in the UK. As of February 2011, this registry cleaner is the latest offering from the Frontline PC Utilities brand, and it looks extremely professional & effective.

Frontline Registry Cleaner 2.0 Overview

Widely seen as the “best” registry cleaner by people who use it, this program has been created to help get rid of all the errors that may be inside the “registry database” of your system Although there are a lot of registry repair programs which claim to be able to do this, the fact is that only a small collection of tools are actually able to work effectively.

Frontline Registry cleaner (both version 1 & 2) have been our preferred registry reapir tools since we started using them to test out their effectiveness… however, we felt it best to explain why we think Frontline Registry Cleaner is the best registry tool.

What Makes Frontline Registry Cleaner Effective?

The main factor you need to know about this program is how it’s able to fix a large number of errors. Most registry cleaners work by scanning through your PC, identifying a few “errors” and then not cleaning them properly. This basically means that if you are looking to get rid of any of the problems that your PC may have, you have to use a registry repair tool that will not only identify the largest number of errors, but also fix the largest amount of problems as well.

Out of all the registry cleaner tools we’ve tested, we’ve found that only Frontline Registry Cleaner 2.0, Registrybooster & PC Tools’ Registry Mechanic are able to fix the most problems that your system may have. The rest are either scams, or just very unreliable.

Registry Cleaners To Avoid in 2011 – Don’t Let Your PC Get Damaged

There are plenty of registry cleaners available and many of them are easily downloadable with either free or trial versions.  Registry cleaners are extremely useful utility programs as they can remove numerous system errors and prevent your system from crashing.  The registry is well known for generating a number of faults due to the significant use it sustains, meaning that if you want to fix any problems on your PC – you should be able to use a registry cleaner tool to fix the issue.

It is quite tedious and also dangerous to manually repair your registry, which is why you need to obtain a powerful and reliable registry cleaner to do the job for you. However, you still need to be careful in using registry cleaners because they have the ability to change values in the registry and delete settings, potentially causing damage to your PC. You need to understand the application before you use it.  This tutorial will help you find out which registry cleaners you should avoid and which ones are safe to use.

Which Registry Cleaners Should You Avoid?

When you try to use a registry cleaner that has not been designed professionally (usually one that is not backed by good user reviews), there is a big chance that it will cause more problems than it fixes. When trying to repair errors, some registry cleaners will accidently delete the wrong settings from your computer, causing problems for you when you try to access your programs and files later on. You need to avoid registry cleaner programs that are unbranded, poorly designed and do not offer update features.

Do not get any cleaner which falls into these categories:

  • Cleaners produced by amateur coders
  • Cleaners made by unknown / uncontactable companies
  • Basic registry cleaner tools
  • Tools which don’t have many features

The Best Registry Cleaners:

How 2011 Registry Cleaner Tools Work

Registry cleaner tools work just like a computer boffin… they scan through your computers registry and and pick out all the corrupted entries which are causing problems.

The Windows registry is essentially a “library” of information for your computer – used to help it load up the files and settings it uses to run. The registry keeps everything from your desktop wallpaper, latest emails and even your stored passwords inside – making it a very important part of your system which is continually being loaded whenever you use your system.

Unfortunately, the registry is continually being saved incorrectly – damaging it and causing a large number of errors as a result. To ensure this problem is not a big issue for your PC, you need to be able to use a registry cleaner tool to fix any of the errors & problems which the registry database may have inside, allowing your computer to run much more reliably and smoothly again.

Should You Rely On A Registry Tool To Fix Your PC?

The fact is that even if Bill Gates sat down to scan through your registry to find problems, there are corruptions which even he would miss.

This means that since registry cleaner tools work to an ever-updating list of corruptions and problems, you can rely on them to weed out all the problems with your registry.

If you look at this screen shot (of our best 2011 registry cleaner Frontline Registry Cleaner):

Frontline Registry Cleaner ScreenshotYou can see that the best registry cleaner tool actually searches a lot more types of corruption than any human ever could.

How To Make Windows 7 Boot Up In Seconds – Tricks The Experts Use

The more we use our computers, the more we tend to accumulate lots of programs.  When you have dozens of installed programs that load up together with Windows during startup, the boot process takes longer, especially if those programs use up heavy resources.  Over time, some settings inside your registry will also become damaged or corrupted, causing problems that can confuse Windows and take up more time in completing tasks during the startup stage.

How To Make Your PC Boot Up Faster

There are various ways to make your PC finish the boot process faster.  Windows 7 is designed to run and boot fast when working properly.  You can try doing these things:

  • Remove programs in the startup list
  • Disable Windows features such as Search Indexing, Sidebar and Aero Theme
  • Disable unwanted visual effects and services
  • Remove the User Account control feature

The best way to make your PC boot up faster is to remove errors in your registry by using a registry cleaner application.  However, there are also some secrets that you can employ to boost the loading time of Windows 7.

Ways To Make Windows 7 Boot Up In Seconds

Step 1 – Uninstall Any Programs You Don’t Need On Your PC

There are many programs that are configured to startup when Windows loads.  This will increase the loading time of Windows as it will only complete the boot process when it has successfully loaded all programs included in the startup list.  The first thing that you need to do is uninstall programs that you don’t use anymore, especially if it’s an application that is heavy on resources.  It is highly recommended that you remove them from your system. Do so by clicking Start> Control Panel> Programs and Features and select the program from among the list, and finally, click the “Uninstall” button.  This process will remove software that increases the boot time.

Step 2 – Remove Any Junk Files From Your System

Your system continually accumulates files as you use it, and many of these files are considered to be junk, such as temporary internet files, which you should remove from time to time.  When your PC has not been maintained regularly enough, those junk files can cause Windows to slow down while it works, especially in the boot process.  You need to remove the junk files from your system, including stuff that you have downloaded, deleted items that are still lying in the Recycle Bin, etc.  Here’s how to do this:

  1. Click on Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Disk Cleanup.
  2. Select the drive you want to clean up and click OK.
  3. After Windows is done calculating how much disk space will be gained through completing Disk Cleanup, in the Disk Cleanup for window, tick the check boxes on the left of the items you want to be deleted, and then click OK.
  4. Click on the Delete Files button.

You can also delete unnecessary system files by clicking the Clean up system files in the Disk Cleanup for window and do the same steps for those files that you want to be included in the Disk Cleanup operation.  This process will free up disk space which can give Windows breathing room.  You can also delete any other unnecessary files that are lying around in your system.

Step 3 – Clean Out The Registry Of Windows

The “registry” is one of the biggest causes of slowness during boot up.  The registry is where all file and program settings are stored, which Windows uses to correctly load your files and execute programs.  Despite having a vital role in the smooth operation of your PC, Windows will often encounter errors in the registry as a result of registry keys saved in the wrong way. This happens due to the large access of multiple registry keys at the same time, something that ultimately confuses Windows and will eventually result in a slower boot up.  You need to repair issues in the registry to make your PC boot up in seconds by using a registry cleaner that can do the scanning and repairing for you.

How To Fix Windows System Freezes – Stop Windows Freezing

Windows System Freezes are common for many computers around the World. A "freeze" is typically when your computer cannot process the files & settings it requires to run, preventing it from being able to perform the tasks you require. Although there are a number of different reasons why Windows will crash, the good news is that you can fix the problem very easily by using the steps outlined in this tutorial.

We’re going to cover why crashes occur in Windows and then specifically how to fix the problem you’re seeing. We recommend trying a registry cleaner to see how many possible errors your system may have causing the freezes before trying our other repair tutorial below:

What Is A Windows Freeze?

Windows "freezes" are basically when your computer just stops working. It will either restart or just show you the screen you have, preventing it from being able to run correctly. If you’re seeing this problem, it’s vital that you’re able to repair the various problems that could be leading the issue to occur.

A computer freeze is different than a crash in that a "freeze" will just basically make your computer hang in an indefinite processing loop, whilst a crash will turn your PC off or will just stop it working altogether. Crashes are generally caused by errors with the software of your PC, or with particular files that Windows uses to run. Freezes can be caused by much more subtle problems, and will then prevent you from being able to complete your tasks, as well as stopping your system from being able to load up properly.

Why Does Windows ‘Freeze’?

Windows computers freeze for a number of reasons. The basic problem is that your system cannot process the settings & options it requires to run, leading it to just stop working. However, there are other issues including the likes of having registry errors, damaged hardware or incomplete drivers on your system.

Here are some common causes:

  • Windows cannot read its "system files"
  • Your PC has some sort of errors with the "registry database"
  • Your software is corrupted or damaged
  • Your PC has incorrect drivers causing conflict on your system

How To Stop Windows From Freezing

Windows computers generally freeze for a specific number of reasons. This is great news, because it means that you can just browse through these problems and then fix them one by one. Here’s what you need to do:

1) Update Your Windows System

It’s often the case that Windows will have a setting or feature that is out of date or conflicting with a new piece of software. Microsoft knows this is a problem and as a result they continually update the Windows system to help protect against any of the "out of date" problems that many Windows users see.

You can update Windows by either browsing to the Microsoft Updates website or by clicking onto "Start > All Programs > Windows Update" to get all the latest upgrades for your PC.

2) Reintsall Any Software Causing The Freezes

If you’re seeing specific software causing a problem for your computer, then you should look to reinstall it. Software programs have a habit of either becoming damaged or corrupted, preventing many Windows computers from being able to use them correctly. To ensure this problem is not causing the problem on your PC, it’s recommended you reinstall any programs which continually cause the freeze by clicking onto "Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs" and then getting rid of the application.

3) Ensure You Have All The Correct Drivers On Your PC

Drivers are the software programs which all Windows systems use to correctly communicate with their hardware components. Although Windows has its own diverse library of drivers which are continually used to help run your system, it’s often the case that your PC will either install the incorrect driver or will have somehow damaged the driver your system is trying to use.

You need to make sure that all the drivers on your PC are correct, you can click onto Start > Control Panel > Device Manager and then repair any of the damaged drivers which will show up with a Yellow Exclamation mark.

4) Use A "Registry Cleaner Program

Using a registry cleaner to stop Windows freezing is actually one of the most beneficial things you can do. Registry cleaners are designed to scan through the registry database of your computer and repair any of the errors that are inside. The registry database is a highly important part of the Windows system because it’s where your PC will keep all the files, settings and options which it requires to run – allowing your computer to continually recall such important settings as your desktop wallpaper and even your most recent emails.

Unfortunately, the registry is continually causing a huge amount of problems for Windows computers because of the way it’s continually being damaged and corrupted. This often causes freezes because Windows relies on the registry to actually run… meaning that if you are still seeing freeze problem on your system, it’s recommended that you download and run a registry cleaner to fix the errors your PC may have.

Windows 7 Registry Errors

Windows 7 runs from a central database called the “registry”. Every time you do anything on your computer, Windows searches through this database and changes some records.

The reason why you need the best Windows 7 registry cleaner is because this central database easily gets corrupted and clogged up, making the system take a lot longer than expected to search for the records it needs.

What’s more, if it searches for records in the Windows 7 registry and cannot find them, it throws up errors which will both annoy you and slow your computer down further.

How to Fix Windows 7 Registry Problems

The best Windows 7 registry cleaner will help you fix your registry problems without any hassle. All you need to do is install the files and then click on “Scan Now”. This will send off the cleaner to sort out any problems with your registry.

For novice and not-so-technically-sound users, the best option to keep the registry error-free is to use a Windows 7 registry cleaner tool. There are many compatible registry cleaners available on the Internet. You can review their features and user ratings and download the one that best suits your requirements.

On your Windows 7 computer, you can use a Windows 7 registry cleaner to perform the following tasks:

  • Create reliable registry backups.
This is a recommended task that you must perform before making any registry changes. Remember, that all changes done to the registry are permanent and irreversible. Creating a backup before proceeding with your changes ensures that if you encounter any problems after making your changes you can restore the registry to its previous condition.
  • Scan the entire Windows 7 registry for errors and remove them.
Almost all registry cleaners come with both automatic cleanup and manual cleanup options. You can use the automatic cleanup option to allow your registry cleaner to scan for errors and remove them automatically. The manual cleanup option displays the results to you, and you can choose the entries you want to remove and the entries you want to retain in the registry.
  • De fragment the registry
using the included registry defrag tool, that will help to make the registry contiguous and compact.
  • Use a Windows 7 registry cleaner to delete privacy information on your PC. Privacy information is stored by your system to keep track of your activities. This information can be used by hackers for malicious purposes. By using a good registry cleaner, you can remove this information from your PC and keep it safe from malicious attacks.
  • Organize the startup programs
On your Windows 7 computer to manage the programs that load during the system startup.
  • Enable you to manage Internet Explorer Browser Help Objects (BHO), which get added to your Internet Explorer to incorporate certain functionalist within it. Google and Yahoo toolbars are a type of Internet Explorer BHOs.
  • Enable you to remove any malicious registry entries
added by malware such as Viruses, Trojans, and Spyware.

To sum up, the best Windows 7 registry cleaner helps to considerably improve the performance of your PC, and enhance your computing experience by ensuring a fast and error-free system.

Frontline Registry Cleaner is our favorite registry cleaner because it allows you to easily destroy most errors with your registry without lifting a finger.

Why Your Computer Is Running Slow

The problem with most computers is simply a part of Windows called the ‘registry’. The registry is a big database that stores all the information & personalized data about your site, allowing it to ‘remember’ a variety of information such as your latest emails and even your desktop background.

The registry is one of the most important and crucial parts of Windows, but it’s also one of the biggest causes of a slow system. The problem with it is simple and damaging -

Each time you use your PC, 100′s of registry files are being opened and read to help your system run as smoothly as possible. This is okay, but because there are so many registry files open at once, Windows gets confused and saves many of them in the wrong way.

This makes the registry files corrupt & damaged, leading them to become extremely difficult to read, making Windows take longer to process them, slowing it down.

The problem is responsible for millions of slow computers throughout the World… and is actually very easy to fix if you use the right tools.

How To Make Your PC ‘Lightning’ Fast

To make your PC run extremely quickly again, you just need to use a tool called a ‘registry cleaner’. These scan through the entire registry database and then fix any of the corrupt registry files that might be slowing Windows down.

There are a lot of registry cleaners out there, but having used them all, we’ve found that one works very well to speed up your PC. It’s called "RegAce" and works to fix the most registry problems, allowing your computer to run the fastest possible. Here it is:

Fix The Blue Screen Error – Or The Blue Screen Of Death Error

One of the biggest problems with Windows is the famous "Blue Screen Of Death" error. It’s an error which suddenly appears out of nowhere and makes your computer crash, with the only way of being able to recover from it being to restart your PC.

There are many types of blue screen error but all of them cause annoyance and confusion – especially if you don’t know why they are appearing. Here’s an example of one:

Blue Screen Of Death Example

What Is The Blue Screen Of Death Error?

Put simply, the blue screen of death is a fatal error for your PC. This means that the problem is so severe that Windows cannot do anything to recover from it than to shut down and reboot.

This not only causes major headaches with lost work & unsaved games but it’s also highly annoying because the blue screen can famously spring up out of nowhere.

Millions of people struggle with this error every day and even the most sophisticated of systems (such as Windows Vista) cannot actually deal with it. The reasons why

Why Are You Getting It?

The blue screen of death is caused when your computer’s back is against the wall. Normally, this is either because of incompatible hardware OR because a vital system file has become corrupted.

Unlike normal errors, which your computer can live with, a blue screen error is created if the error is so big that your computer can’t operate with it. It’s as if your PC has just suffered a cardiac arrest (heart attack) and the only way to bring it back to life is to reboot it.

How To Fix The Blue Screen Of Death

Hardware
It’s been known that some people have installed pieces of hardware only to then experience the blue screen error. This is quite common and the easiest way to deal with it is to first remove the new hardware and then research that hardware’s comparability with the rest of your computer.

Software
Normally, the blue screen will show you an error code or a description of the error. If it’s a software issue (such as a system file has become corrupted), you need to either replace or correct that file.

The easiest way to do this is to note down what file is causing the trouble and then search Google for this phrase: "[[file name]]" + "[[your operating system]]". This should bring up a selection of sites which allows you to download a fresh copy of the corrupted file so you can replace it on your PC.

If your system doesn’t show what file is the problem OR you don’t know how to fix it manually, there is an easier way to fix the blue screen error automatically.

A piece of software has been created to actually scan through Windows’ entire system files and find any file which may be corrupt or lead to an error. This software is called a "registry cleaner tool" and is widely available online.

The best registry cleaner we have used is one called "Frontline Registry Cleaner" which allows you to simply click on "Scan" and it will fix all the causes of the blue screen of death for you.

How To Clean Your Registry for Free

Your computer’s registry is the central ‘database’ for your entire Windows system. Not only does it store all your settings, but it also contains files and records which your computer relies on to operate. If it loses any of these files, it either crashes or runs VERY slow whilst trying to find them.

That’s the cause of most computer malfunctions, by the way. It’s like a "silent assassin" – the Windows registry just keeps getting more and more blocked up and confused… until eventually, it takes your computer so long to find ANYTHING that it’s just not worth using any more.

Now, to get around this is actually pretty simple. You just need to make sure your computer’s "core" files are all in order. You need to make sure your computer can easily find what settings it wants in a simple and easy fashion. To do this for free, you just got to do 3 things:

1. Un-Install unwanted programs

Un-Installing programs not only removes their files, but also relieves the strain on your hard drive. This is a great way to speed up your PC because it removes files which your computer will only have to scan every time it’s switched on AND it removes registry values which might be corrupted. To do this, just click on START -> CONTROL PANEL -> ADD / REMOVE HARDWARE… and then you can check out the various programs you have and un-install them

2. Delete unwanted files

There’s nothing worse for a computer than having a multitude of files stored on your hard drive. It’s okay if you *need* the files, but if you’ve got a bunch of funny images / things which you have saved out of boredom, then it would be better for you to delete them.

3. Use an official Registry cleaner

These programs ARE commercial (they cost money) but they are free to try. All you need to do is download one (I’ll show you which in a second) and then run it on your PC. It will scan through your registry and correct any corrupted files you may have. This is pure gold because it goes through your computer automatically, allowing you to concentrate on more important things.

Our preferred registry cleaner is one called "Frontline Registry Cleaner". This is used by over 20,000 people across the world and is very effective.

Windows Vista Registry Problems

Think of it like an engine. If they engine is new, it has no unwanted gunge or junk to block it. But as you use your Windows Vista computer, the engine starts to get all sorts of sand, slime and other stuff inside it. This causes it to go incredibly slow or stop altogether.

To fix this issue (and it’s the same for all Windows Vista computers), you need to use a Windows Vista Registry Cleaner.

How to Fix Windows Vista Registry Problems

Just like older Windows operating systems, you can use the ‘Registry Editor’ to search for and remove unwanted information from your Windows Vista registry. To open the Registry Editor in Windows Vista, select the Start button, click in the Start Search Dialog Box, type regedit, and then press the Enter key. Although useful, working with the Registry Editor can be a risky business and is best left to experienced users.
